Valvoline Premium Blue® Extreme Diesel Engine Oil
Hi-Performance Synthetic Engine Oil. The Premium Blue Advantage:
VW auto group (VAG) calls for certain oil specs in their diesel engines. VAG owns Audi and Porsche and they each use the same or nearly identical diesel engines
Diesel engine oil uses different additives and is slightly different than most gas engine oils. All modern diesels are turbocharged and diesel engines naturally have more piston blow-by than gas engines. The engine oil must be compression ignition rated (CI) so it can stand up to the heat of the turbo and keep combustion byproducts and diesel fuel suspended in the oil. If oil overheats or doesn’t have the right additive packages, it can cause excess engine wear. Not using the correct spec engine oil can also affect the engine warranty.
Pre 2009 TDI’s require engine oil which meets Volkswagen Quality Standard Specification VW 502.00 or VW 505.01.
Newer TDI’S require engine oil which meets Volkswagen Quality Standard Specification VW 507.00
GCOC Trenton carries the oil required for these specialty engines and take pride in staying current on the details to ensure we are capable of handling all the VW and other European Diesel Engines.
European Engine Oil Change
Mismatching motor oils for European import vehicles can have dire consequences for a vehicle’s engine.
Of all the maintenance work done on a vehicle, the oil change is the most common and one of the most important. Here in Canada most people drive North American vehicles, the range of oils needed for those regular oil changes are pretty standard.
But the import cars are getting very popular, and what happens if you buy a European vehicle, a fast BMW for example, or an Audi or Volkswagen, maybe a luxury Mercedes, or Porsche and it asks for an oil change?
Do you take your European vehicle to the shop where you used to take your domestic car? Will they use the that common synthetic oil, that they use in North American vehicles? That might be a very costly mistake, because many of these European car makers insist on very specific types of motor oils to be used, motor oils that follow European specifications that are different from the ones that rates North American oils.
GCOC Trenton carries the oils required for these European vehicles and take pride in staying current on the details to ensure we are capable of handling all the imported European Engines.

Transmission Fluid Maintenance
Through regular use of your vehicle there is no need to have your transmission serviced in advance of your manufacturer’s recommended service interval. When this service is required is located in your owner’s manual and in our records when you choose to become our client.
We keep detailed records on all the vehicles we service and the requirements for this service are very different if your vehicle is either an automatic transmission or a manual transmission.
At GCOC Trenton we have chosen the Tranny Flusher as our preferred method to replace Automatic Transmission Fluid.
The Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) service will replace 100% of your vehicle’s old, dirty fluid. That’s important, considering traditional ATF changes drain little more than 30% of bad fluid from your transmission, leaving nearly three-quarters of your old fluid in the transmission to mix with the new.
Designed by Lube Industry professionals, the Industrial Transmission Flusher (ITF) offers special features that set it apart from the competition. The ITF improves ATF quality by up to 95% over conventional change methods for industrial sized transmissions, by completely flushing the cooling circuit, valve body and torque converter.
A manual transmission is a series of gears changed by the driver using a gear shift and a foot operated clutch providing maximum control at all speed levels. These gears can move apart or together in various combinations to determine how fast and with how much power the car’s wheels will turn and in which direction. Over time, the extreme forces being exerted by these gears will breakdown the transmission oil leaving your transmission susceptible to rust, dirt and damage caused by overheated parts.
Changing the fluid in a manual transmission is just as important, if not more so, as for an automatic transmission. The forces applied through the gear shifting need clean and new fluids to shift easily and smoothly as you move through each gear to maintain a smooth and consistent performance for the rest of your engines components.
Most manual transmission fluid changes are done by the drain and fill method.
Other Drive Train Services
Like all other components in your vehicle these are key to ensuring the all of the care and maintenance done to your engine isn’t wasted by ignoring where all that power goes!
A differential is a box of gears that takes the movement of the spinning driveshaft through a 90 degree angle to the axles that turn the drive wheels. It also allows each side of the axle to rotate at different speeds. Over time, fluid inside can get dirty or burnt and causes unnatural wear and tear to the components. Changing the fluid can help reduce wear and prolong the differentials life span.
A transfer case is a unit that controls the flow of power to the front and rear drive axles when you shift back and forth between two-wheel and four-wheel drive. Replacing the fluid when it starts to break down will help extend the life of your unit, by reducing the wear and tear on the gears and parts inside.
Radiator Coolant Maintenance
Your coolant contains a chemical (ethylene glycol) that stops water from freezing or boiling in regular and extreme temperatures. Coolant also contains rust, corrosion and foaming inhibitors. Over time these inhibitors become less effective, leaving you with breakdowns and costly damages.
We remove all of the old coolant in the radiator, the engine, the hoses and the heater core and replace it with warranty approved fluid (up to 15 L.). We also check for leaks in the system and test the radiator cap. Replacing the fluid helps protect against rust and corrosion, engine freeze up and helps your vehicle operate at its most efficient temperature. Service is recommended every 5 years for most newer vehicles. Check your owner’s manual for your vehicles service interval.
Cabin and Exterior Maintenance
Cabin filters were first introduced in European vehicles but are becoming more common in domestic, and Asian manufacturers as well. Similar to the filters in your furnace in your home, these filters reduce the amount of airborne pollutants and particles entering the interior of a vehicle by capturing dust, pollen and other airborne contaminants.
Cabin air filters are typically located under the hood, or behind or under the glove compartment. These filters should be replaced according to your vehicle manufacturer’s guidelines (usually once per year or every 20,000-25,000 kilometers) in order to maintain quality air levels inside your vehicle.
Cabin Air Filter Facts:
The importance of being visible to coming and going traffic cannot be stated enough – especially on a dark and rainy night where visibility is significantly reduced. We supply and replace most halogen bulbs and many other driving lights are available in our in-store inventory.
A striking or smearing wiper is another impediment to your ability to see clearly when operating your vehicle. We carry only top quality wiper blades to provide immediate replacement in order to help improve your ability to see clearly on the road whether or not its rain or snow or mud impeding your vision.
Other Products & Services
Clean air is critical to the performance and life of all engines because even the smallest dust particles can cause tremendous damage.
Every automotive engine needs air to function and a plugged filter may reduce engine performance.
The purpose of the air filter is to keep damaging contaminants away from sensitive engine components.
To improve dust holding capacity and air flow, Hastings Premium Filters uses two proven methods to separate and stabilize the pleated media on heavy-duty air filters.
PermaPleat® — an embossing process that forms dividers between pleats to prevent bunching and ensure uniform air flow.
Beading — a continuous bead of adhesive around the circumference of a filter’s metal wrap, either inner or outer, to lock the pleat tips in place and prevent movement.
GCOC Trenton carries an extensive line of passenger vehicle air filters to ensure that we have yours in stock
PCV Valves are used to prevent pressure build up in your crankcase and assist in the reduction of pollution from your vehicle’s emissions. Over time they will become dirty and can become blocked if not serviced or a replaced regularly.
The serpentine belt is one of the most important components in your engine and helps to drive the vehicles many components including the alternator, power steering unit, air conditioner, emission pump, water pump and more. Over time these belts will crack and eventually break leading to an unnecessary, and completely avoidable, breakdown. They should be checked regularly for deterioration and replaced at the first signs of wear and tear.
Water — destroys lubricative properties of your fuel, damaging fuel system components and resulting in fuel flow stoppage at cold temperatures.
Fungus and Bacteria — plug fuel filters, feed on hydrocarbons and spread rapidly in the presence of moisture.
Precipitates (non-combustible materials) — settle out of the fuel causing few problems.
Particulates (black, tar-like contaminants) — plug fuel filters quickly.
Wax — adds energy to diesel fuel; however, during cold weather, wax thickens and gels – slowing or stopping fuel flow.
The use of a fuel filter designed for your equipment will reduce your engine’s exposure to these contaminants.
GCOC Trenton carries the most common fuel filters that can be replaced easily within the time it takes to do the average oil change, about 10 minutes.
